Government Polytechnic, Bhuj has risen as one of the most preferred institute for acquisition of students from the Campus for Kachchh region. The Placement Cell in the institute has been operational with the dual objectives of providing counselling to the students for their career development and arranging campus placement drives with prestigious industries to provide best opportunities to students.


Key Objectives of Training and Placement Cell:

  • To enhance the employability skills of students by arranging various training programs and workshops
  • To facilitate the process of placement and internships
  • To provide employment opportunities to the students
  • To interact and strengthen relationships with potential and existing recruiters.


Placement Team:

The College is well equipped with Training and Placement Cell. Mr. D. M. Chauhan (LME) is in-charge of the cell. TPO is assisted by Mrs. B. M. Nakhuva (LComp) for the said activity. Faculty Coordinators from each department are also involved actively in the placement cell activities like arranging pre-placement orientation sessions, placement activity, database management, etc. Details of each members are as below and mentioned in office order.


Infrastructure:

The TPO cell has one TPO office (for conducting personal interviews) and an auditorium with seating capacity of 300 for pre-placement process. Each department has classroom for conducting further process.

Key Activities as a part of Training: 

  1. Spoken Tutorial: Under the aggies of Directorate of Technical Education Gandhinagar, we have done MoU with Spoken Tutorial IIT Bombay program. The activity is established at IIT Bombay with funding from Ministry of Education by National Mission on Education through ICT, Government of India. The Spoken Tutorial Project is about teaching and learning a particular FOSS (Free and Open Source Software) like Linux, Scilab, LaTeX, PHP & MySQL, Java, C/C++, LibreOffice etc. via an easy Video tool - Spoken Tutorials.   2. Wadhwani Foundation: AICTE has signed a MoU with National Entrepreneurship Network (NEN) dated 22.6.2023 with an objective to improve quality of higher technical education. In this respect, AICTE and the NEN have decided to collaborate and use Wadhwani Curricula, Content and Methodology, which is developed and owned by Wadhwani Operating Foundation (WOF), in continuation of the same AICTE collaborates with SDN -Skill Development Network part of Wadhwani foundation to conduct a program on “Employability Skills Program for Polytechnic Students” to enhance the employability of Polytechnic students and also to provide them with a foundation for a successful career.   3. GRADE Assessment: The Gujarat Knowledge Society has signed an MOU with Trichambers Consulting has offered Skill Assessment (Grade Assessment) for final year students of Government Institutions, without any charges, to improve employability of students. Global Review, Assessment, and Determination of Employability (GRADE) is designed for factor-wise comparisons, across 11 factors including, Ability to Undertake Tasks, Inclination to Learn, Communication, Cohesiveness, Engagement, Structured Approach to Work, Focus, Stress Management, Motivation, Work Ethic, and Mental Acuity.   4. GATS (General Aptitude Test Series):
    Aptitude tests can be a valuable tool for companies in the hiring process, helping them identify the most qualified candidates for the job and make more informed hiring decisions. It is first screening stage for eligible candidates. 
    Objectives of the GATS are:
    To give exposure to the types of aptitude questions that are commonly asked in such exams.
    To help students understand their strengths and weaknesses in aptitude.
    To create a competitive environment among students.
    The 10 tests in the GATS can cover a variety of aptitude topics to ensure that students. Each test comprises of two sections of 15 marks each. Section 1 is of quantitative aptitude and section 2 is of verbal and non-verbal reasoning are evaluated on a broad range of abilities. 
  5. Summer Internship: Gujarat Technological University (GTU) offers a Summer Internship Program for diploma students. The internship opportunity is offered to semester 3 as well as semester 5 diploma engineering students.
    Objective: to provide practical industry exposure and hands-on experience.
    Duration: 2 weeks for semester 3 and 6 weeks for semester 5 during summer vacation.
    Eligibility: Open to all branches of Diploma Engineering 
    Activities: Students can intern in industries, government agencies, NGOs, or skill centers.
    Skills Developed: Technical skills, managerial skills, communication, collaboration, problem-solving, and work ethics.
    Assessment: Based on submitted report and End Semester Viva
