About SSIP Policy Gujarat State :

Government of Gujarat has developed a policy for providing assistance to Startups/ Innovation. Under this scheme, any individual/ group of individuals having innovative idea/ Concept will be eligible and/ or Universities/ education institutions, Incubation Centre/ PSUs/ R&D Institutions/ Private and other establishments will be eligible as an institution to support and mentor to innovators as approved by Committee. Startups in an economy's technology sectors is an important indicator of technological performance for several reasons.

Objective Of SSIP Grant at Government Institute :

1. Support : Innovation/Project/Research activities at institute

      By providing mentoring support for Identify primary research areas

      By motivating students to work on novel ideas

      By providing mentoring support for PoC

      By providing financial support for PoC

      By providing support for building a road map for students' projects

2. Support : Intellectual Property Right,IPR & allied initiatives

     By encouraging research and invention

     By motivating an inventor to disclose his inventions instead of keeping them a trade secret

     By providing mentoring support for IPR filing

     By providing financial support for IPR filing

3. Support : Student Start-ups/ Entrepreneurship

     By assisting in establishing their own enterprises

     By encouraging students on establishing and managing industrial units

Innovation :

Invention: It means any new process or product involving inventive step and capable of industrial utility.

New invention: It means any invention or technology which has not been anticipated by publication in any document or used in the country or elsewhere in the world before the date of filing of patent application with complete specification, i.e., the subject matter has not fallen in public domain or that it does not form part of the state of the art.

State of art : It applies to the level of development (as of a device, procedure, process, technique, or science) reached at any particular time usually as a result of modern methods. It usually used as synonym for “Prior-art”

Prior art: It means all information that has been made available to the public in any form before a given date that might be relevant to a patent’s claims of originality.

Inventive Step (Non-obviousness): It means a feature of an invention that involves technical advance as compared to the existing knowledge or having economic significance or both and that makes the invention not obvious to a person skilled in the art. Person skilled in the art: This is one kind of hypothetical person to be considered who has the normal skills and knowledge in a particular technical field, without being a genius. He or she mainly serves as a reference for determining, or at least evaluating, whether an invention involves an inventive step or not.

Intellectual Property Right :

 Intellectual Property Rights (IPRs) are legal rights that protect creations and/or inventions resulting from intellectual activity in the industrial, scientific, literary or artistic fields. The most common IPRs include patents, copyrights, marks and trade secrets.
